5G Rahmah package: Here’s what the five participating telcos have on offer

With the launch of the 5G Rahmah package on Tuesday (Aug 29) by Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, participating telecommunication (telco) providers are now offering more affordable 5G data and device bundle plans to Malaysians.

Telcos with a Rahmah package on offer include CelcomDigi, Maxis, YTL Communications, Unifi Mobile, and U Mobile, with all plans having a data minimum of 60GB and bundle device pricing capped at RM240.

All the plans will have a two-year contract, with devices purchased as part of a bundle entitled to a two-year warranty period to match.

CelcomDigi’s offering is split between the Xpax Postpaid 60 and Digi Postpaid 60 plans, both of which have the option to grab a Samsung Galaxy A14 5G (for RM119) or an Honor 90 Lite 5G (RM239) in the package.

Both plans are available with 60GB worth of data, while being priced at RM60 per month respectively.

The Xpax option does come with an unlimited quota for social media use and YouTube viewing, while Digi users can upgrade their overall quota to 110GB for an additional RM10 each month.

Maxis on the other hand is offering its Rahmah package via Hotlink Postpaid, which is priced at RM70 a month, lowered to RM60 via a monthly rebate of RM10 for the first 24 months.

The Hotlink offering comes with a higher data quota, totalling up to 105GB (70GB of 4G or 5G data plus 35GB of bonus 5G data).

This does have a trade off however, with the devices offered with the bundle being priced higher – RM219 for the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G and RM239 for the Honor 90 Lite 5G.

U Mobile’s Rahmah plan features a large 200GB data cap, with free 5G roaming in Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand, priced at RM58 a month. The bundle plan features the same Samsung and Honor devices, which are priced at RM240 each.

Unifi Mobile similarly prices both devices at RM240 respectively for the bundle, with the data plan itself priced at RM60 with a 60GB quota, along with a 10GB allocation for hotspots.

YTL Communication’s Yes has a slightly different device offering, with a 5G Rahmah plan priced at RM35 a month with 100GB of data and the option of either a Vivo Y55+ 5G or ZTE Blade A73 5G, each priced at RM240.

All listed plans also have unlimited calls to all networks.

It is also worth noting that the first 100,000 B40 applicants will be entitled to an additional RM120 device rebate, meaning that if the telco priced the device lower, it could be entirely covered by the rebate.

5G Rahmah plans will be available until Dec 31 this year.
