Skeletal remains in Klang could be a man reported missing in June

SEPANG: The skeletal remains found in a drain in Klang could be that of a man reported missing in June, says Selangor police.

Its chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said a post-mortem on the skeletal remains, discovered along Jalan Kebun on Aug 27, showed it was around 30-year-old and this matches the information of the missing person.

“We believe both cases are linked, but a DNA test is needed to confirm this,” he added.

He said the DNA test would take around two weeks to complete.

Investigations would be continued to determine if the case had any criminal elements, he added.

Comm Hussein was speaking to reporters after the disposal of case items at Sepang police headquarters Wednesday (Sept 6).

He said the case items, estimated at RM216,318.26, were linked to eight cases, including illegal cryptocurrency mining.

Six of the cases have gone to to court and the others were classified as no further action, he added.

Separately, Comm Hussein said police have issued disciplinary actions on a police sergeant accused of khalwat (close proximity).

“Any policemen found to have conducted actions that could besmirch the image of the Royal Malaysia Police will have action taken as per the rules of conduct for public servants,” he reminded, adding that this could include a transfer to another department, a demotion, or firing.

He said investigation on the case is ongoing as it involved another party.

Two investigation papers had been opened, including one related to a report lodged by the policeman in question, he said.

In a TikTok video emerged recently, a man alleged that he had been harassed by a police officer from the Sepang police headquarters after a third party filed a report against him over a supposed car sale.

The man claimed that the officer had been in cahoots with the complainant and that evidence of the case had been destroyed.

He also alleged that the officer was caught committing khalwat (close proximity) with the complainant.
