PUTRAJAYA: Police have identified the two motorcyclists who died in the crash involving a trailer colliding into several vehicles, including a traffic police motorcycle, at KM5.7 of Jalan Persiaran Utara heading towards Puchong here on Wednesday (Sept 20).
Putrajaya police chief ACP A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz said the victims were Faris Haziq Abu Bakar, 25, a Pos Malaysia staff and Yuswar Mohd Uyus, 39, who worked in the Ampang Court.
He said Faris Haziq was identified by his father, while Yuswar’s wife identified him at the Putrajaya Hospital forensics unit about 5.30pm.
“The post mortem on both victims will be carried out tomorrow (Sept 21),” he said in a statement, adding that there were 14 individuals involved in the accident, including the two fatalities, and not eight as reported earlier.
He said, two of the car drivers identified as Karli Rastio, 69, and Abdul Latif Ahmad, 58, sustained severe injuries and were warded at the red zones of the Putrajaya Hospital and Serdang Hospital, respectively.
The trailer driver suffered minor injuries on his hands, while the rest had fractured hands and some were unhurt, he said.
Asmadi said there were a total of 14 vehicles involved in the collision – a trailer, a lorry, seven cars and five motorcycles, including a traffic police motorbike.
He added that the trailer driver tested negative for drugs and he would be remanded on Thursday (Sept 21) to assist investigations.
Meanwhile, a private sector employee Mohd Azuan Mohd Zain when met at Putrajaya Hospital, said he was surprised to learn that a family member was involved in the accident which went viral on social media.
“Yuswar was my wife’s brother,” he said, adding that the deceased was always helpful and was believed to be on his way to the Palace of Justice for some official matters when the incident happened. – BK
