IPOH: The state has received more than RM20mil in allocations in preparation for Visit Perak Year 2024, says Perak Tourism Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee (pic).

He said the allocation includes allocations from the state government and the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.

“We initially received RM3.5mil annual allocations from the state government before receiving another RM7mil special allocation,” he said.

Loh added that the Tourism Ministry has given the state an additional RM9.09 mil budget for 35 projects which will be done in several phases.

“They also gave us an additional RM1mil to be used for promotional activities,” he told reporters during a press conference held at the state secretariat building on Wednesday (Sept 27).

Loh said the allocation includes restoration and upgrades at several of Perak’s tourist attractions.

“From the ministry, the highest allocation is given to the Lenggong District Council to build boardwalks, a jetty, and a pedestrian walkway at Resort Tasik Raban,” said Loh.

“Meanwhile the Pasir Salak Historical Complex received RM50,000 from the ministry for minor repair work. The complex also received about RM1.2mil from the state government and the Perak Museum Board for major upgrades,” he added.

Among other projects included in the budget are repairing the Rumah Kutai at Taman Rekreasi Gunung Lang, Teluk Batik’s public toilet upgrades, Sg Papan trail’s suspension bridge maintenance work, and upgrading the facilities at Eco Campsite, Glamping & Glamping Park at Lata Rambong in Selama.

He then said that government agencies are also working towards making the Visit Perak Year a success.

“Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad recently launched new stops for their daily northern train route namely Ipoh, Sungai Siput and Kuala Kangsar. We also received supporting grants from both tourism and cultural sectors,” he said.
