KOTA KINABALU: Former inspector-general of police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani and educationist-cum-developer Datuk Tang Yong Chew are among the 1,209 recipients of state awards in conjunction with the 70th birthday of Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin on Saturday (Oct 7).
According to the list made available to the media on Friday (Oct 6), Acryl Sani and Yong are the only two recipients of the Seri Panglima Darjah Kinabalu (SPDK), Sabah’s highest honour, which carries the title “Datuk Seri Panglima”.
Following that, a total of 88 people have been conferred the state’s second highest award, the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK), which carried the title “Datuk”.
Among the politicians were Deputy Agriculture and Food Security Minister and Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Foong Hin and his DAP colleague Luyang assemblyman and state Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Phoong Jin Zhe, Human Resources Deputy Minister and PKR’s Sepanggar MP Mustapha Sakmud, Parti Bersatu Sabah’s Tawau MP Lo Su Fui and Sabah Umno’s Sungai Manila assemblyman Mokran Ingkat, among others.
Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Raj Munni Sabu was also awarded the PGDK as well as former Parti Warisan assemblymen Hiew Vun Zin (Karamunting) and Norazlinah Arip (Kunak).
Others who were awarded the PGDK were Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) chief Deputy Comm Victor Sanjos, Sabah GOF Brigade Commander Senior Asst Comm (SAC) Abdul Rani Alias, state health director Dr Asits Sanna, former Kota Kinabalu OCPD SAC Habibi Majinji, Sabah education director Raisin Saidin and Sabah Law Society president Roger Chin.
Nine people were named as the recipients of the Justice of Peace including Sabah Attorney-General Datuk Nor Asiah Mohd Yusof.
A total of 118 people would be conferred the Ahli Setia Darjah Kinabalu (ASDK), 228 would receive the Ahli Darjah Kinabalu (ADK), 282 would get the Bintang Setia Kinabalu, 310 would receive the Bintang Kinabalu while 174 would receive the Certificate of Honour.
