THE Selangor government has launched the Selangor Government Data Exchange (SelGDX) portal, an integrated, big data-sharing platform spanning agencies and the public sector in the state.
The platform was launched on Friday (Oct 20) at the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention 2023, one of several concurrent events at the Selangor International Business Summit 2023 held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
“The portal’s development makes Selangor the first state in Malaysia to develop a data-sharing platform across agencies,” the Selangor state administration said in a statement.
“Besides facilitating the sharing, access and processing of data that is safe, fast and accurate, the system also fosters the use of technology as well as good, efficient and transparent governance practices.”
The project’s pre-launch was held in July last year and SelGDX started operating on Oct 13 this year. The portal’s development involved more than 70 state agencies and departments.
SelGDX was jointly implemented by the state government’s Information Management Division, the State Secretary’s Office and strategic partner TM One (Telekom Malaysia’s Business, Enterprise and Public Sector Solutions Unit).
“The collaboration includes designing, installing, developing, integrating, testing, commissioning, maintaining and providing support services throughout the project’s development period,” said the statement.
“In an effort towards making Selangor a smart, liveable and prosperous state by 2025, the state government is committed to transforming the public sector into a more modern, visionary and people-centric one through smart governance.
“It is hoped that the existence of this big data sharing platform would serve as a catalyst for more technology-based economic development and improve the quality of government services in the state.”
