Bomb hoax: 21 police reports lodged in Selangor and KL

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 21 police reports have been lodged in connection with the bomb hoax involving schools in the Klang Valley.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said 15 police involving 14 schools were recorded in the state.

“School sessions went on normally after the bomb disposal unit did not find any bomb or explosive. We assure the public that the schools are safe and the situation is under control,” he said when contacted on Wednesday (Nov 22).

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said city police received six reports over the bomb hoax.

It was reported that at least 19 schools were affected over an email containing a bomb hoax on Tuesday (Nov 21).

The email, which caused classes to come to a halt at the schools, was believed to have also been sent to 70 schools in Jamaica earlier this month.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain had said an investigation of the email’s contents found that it was originally written in English and translated into Bahasa Malaysia.

“The same contents were also sent to 70 schools in Jamaica on Nov 12 using the same email service provider.

“The investigation now is focussing on whether the incident in Malaysia is related to the incident in Jamaica,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

“We give our assurance that the safety of students and teachers is guaranteed nationwide,” he said.
