KUALA LUMPUR: Vstecs Bhd’s wholly owned subsidiary, VSTECS Astar Sdn Bhd, has collaborated with SpaceX to be Starlink authorised distributor in Malaysia to offer high-speed Internet nationwide.
In a statement today, VSTECS said the collaboration complements the government’s vision to achieve 100 per cent Internet penetration throughout the country.
The group has appointed Harvey Norman as the first official retailer and is actively building a network of retailers to maximise seamless deployment across the country.
“The government recognises the transformative potential of Starlink, which is powered by the world’s most advanced satellites operating in a low Earth orbit that provide high-speed Internet connectivity across the globe, even in the most remote and rural locations,” the statement said.
Starlink can help bridge the digital divide and foster a more connected nation, accelerating the Malaysia digital economy blueprint. It entered the Malaysian market recently and is engineered and operated by SpaceX, the statement said.
VSTECS chief executive officer JH Soong said the collaboration will be a game-changer, redefining connectivity for all Malaysians.
“This collaboration holds immense promise to propel Malaysia into a new era of digital connectivity, empowering individuals, businesses, and communities alike.
“With VSTECS and Starlink joining forces, the future of Malaysia’s digital landscape is poised for an impactful progress,” Soong said in the statement.
Leveraging Starlink’s extensive network of channels and its relationships with retailers and diverse client base across critical sectors like education, healthcare, finance, and the public sector, the group is positioned to drive rapid and efficient Starlink distribution, the statement said. – BK
