Bright future: Solar panel factory launched in Perak to bring in more than jobs, says MB

IPOH: The setting up of a solar panel production factory from China near here has created some 200 jobs just for the first quarter of the year, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad (pic).

The Perak Mentri Besar said he hoped throughout the development of the subsequent phases, more jobs would be generated by the factory – Sinopont Everthriving Malaysia Sdn Bhd – thereby driving further investment and prosperity to the state.

The factory, staffed with almost 100% locals, produces solar cell encapsulation films.

Saarani said this was a crucial milestone for the investment sector in Perak, and it was also a momentous occasion for the parent company – Zhejiang Sinopont Technology Co Ltd – as they unveiled the factory, their first to be established outside of China.

“I was also told that the factory would have the capacity to produce solar cell encapsulation film with a production capacity of 85 million square metres to meet the demand of 10 gigawatts (GW).

“The focus on the production of solar cell encapsulation film clearly demonstrates Perak’s commitment to green technology and sustainable development.

“It aligns with the state government’s vision to create a hub for green technology and innovation under Perak Sejahtera 2030 plan’s flagship,” he said in his speech at the factory’s launch at the Tasek Industrial Area near here on Friday (March 1).

Saarani said the synergy between Sinopont and the state government was a significant step forward, not only in the economic aspect but also in emphasising stronger, prosperous and sustainable community development in shaping the future of the state.

He expressed his gratitude to the company for placing their trust in the state.

Saarani said the trust and interest demonstrated by Sinopont in choosing Perak as the hub for its business development not only showcases the state’s economic potential and stability but also underscores Perak’s ability and strength as an attractive and strategic destination for global investment.

He said during his visit to Sinoport’s headquarters in China last October, he reiterated the state’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the success of the project, which also received full support from the state investment agency, InvestPerak, serving as the facilitator.

“During the visit, I also had the opportunity to meet a group of staff consisting of Perakians undergoing intensive training and technology transfer with Sinopont in Hangzhou.

“I hope the exposure and experience of our local talents in China will be fully utilised for the benefit of our country, and through these efforts, we will undoubtedly develop additional skills among the local population and subsequently produce a skilled workforce in the job market,” he added.
