Fan’s Zii Jia birthday video found to be out of line

A BIRTHDAY greeting video for Malaysia’s No. 1 men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia caused a stir on social media.

China Press reported that social media content creator XiaoHoney posted the video on Lee’s birthday on March 29, with many users saying that the content was rather “disgusting” and in “bad taste”.

Others were amused, saying that Lee would “faint” upon seeing the video.

The video shows XiaoHoney holding a tablet computer and kissing a photo of Lee displayed on the device.

“He is my most favourite (sic) celebrity because he is very good looking. That’s why I want to express my love for him via this video,” says XiaoHoney.

The video also featured indecent antics by XiaoHoney, who is also known as Deacon Chai.

XiaoHoney often dresses up as a woman in his videos to entertain his followers.

> Taiwanese music band Outlet Drift’s singer Putad Pihay was reportedly made to strip from head to toe during a body search by the US Customs and Border Protection at an airport in Los Angeles before her deportation to Taiwan.

“I had never been treated as a criminal like this before in my whole life,” Pihay said of her ordeal.

Pihay, who was invited to perform alongside another band, Small Island Big Song, on their tour of the United States, said she was flown in from Taipei to Los Angeles where she was stopped by Customs and Border personnel on April 9.

She said the concert organiser had not applied for her work visa in time but instead made her enter the United States as a tourist.

The report by Nanyang Siang Pau said during her detention, Pihay was prohibited from using her handphone and was locked in a “dark room” where she was stripped naked.

After 17 hours of detention, she was deported to Taiwan.

The organiser issued an apology to Pihay on Thursday, saying that they would review and rectify their operational procedures in the future.

“We started the visa application in mid-2023. When Pihay initially informed us that she would not be able to perform for us, we did not include her on our list of work visas.

“But one-and-a-half months before the concert, Pihay said she was able to do it after all, so we decided to use the Esta (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation), which caused this incident,” said the organiser.
