PETALING JAYA: The Great Outdoor Expo 2024 is set to provide a thrilling experience for outdoor enthusiasts at the Setia City Convention Centre, Shah Alam in Selangor.

The expo which started yesterday and ends on tomorrow is organised by Star Media Group (SMG) and supported by the Youth and Sports Ministry to promote a healthy lifestyle.

The expo which is from 10am to 9pm daily provides a variety of exhibitions and sales of equipment and accessories of various popular brands for outdoor activities like diving, cycling, fishing and camping as well as theme park tickets and food.

There are more than 40 exhibitors and over 50 brands promoting their merchandise at the expo which are divided into several sections such as camper village, food trucks, inspirational talk sessions and contests.

SMG chief executive officer Chan Seng Fatt said the expo not only provides a different experience for outdoor enthusiasts but also encourages physical activity and a healthy lifestyle, which is in line with the ministry’s mission.

“These activities not only encourage economic growth but also provide the opportunity for the community to improve their skills as they lend support for outdoor pastimes.

“This expo can be a platform for the public to hear for themselves from industry experts and outdoor enthusiasts who will share their views, experiences and tips,” Chan said during the launch of The Great Outdoor Expo 2024 in Shah Alam yesterday.

Chan added the event indirectly benefits the people who can take advantage of the new sports tax relief of RM1,000.

The ceremony was officiated by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim, who thanked SMG for playing a role to invite Malaysians to start a healthier lifestyle.

“This initiative is one of the strategies by the government to improve the sports industry and introduce a healthier lifestyle.

“SMG is playing their part by taking advantage of outdoor activities and I am confident that more people in Malaysia will be able to start a healthier life.

“We hope to have more collaboration on related activities between the ministry and SMG,” said Adam Adli.
