Paw-sitive outcome from cat lover’s bad experience

HAVING loved cats since he was young, a man from Johor Baru turned his love into a passion-filled career as a cat caretaker after being fired from his previous job for rescuing kittens, reported Harian Metro.

Muhammad Razif Daud, 40, said he lost both his place of residence and job as a marketing executive after his employer fired him for rescuing and taking in three stray kittens into the employee dormitory 12 years ago.

Razif, together with his three kittens, were then forced to find a new home where he earned a living as a house cleaner for a few months before a fateful meeting convinced him to turn his love into a full-time job.

“It happened after meeting a veterinarian who suggested that I become a cat sitter because at that time, there were not many people doing such work.

“While I wasn’t sure at first, the veterinarian connected me to my five initial clients who ended up becoming my loyal customers over the next two years,” he said.

Invigorated by this, Razif has since spent the last 11 years improving his knowledge on cat caretaking to provide better services for his clients and better care for his beloved furry friends.

“I am constantly reading up material online and in books on how to care for cats and I even attended courses to learn the correct techniques to obtain an animal handling certificate,” he added.

Razif currently charges his customers anywhere from RM50 to RM300 to care for their cats which includes basic needs such as food and water as well as grooming services.
