PETALING JAYA: Gua Musang MP Mohd Azizi Abu Naim says he is unperturbed by Bersatu’s submission of notices to the Dewan Rakyat Speaker’s office on his party membership and seat, saying the move was politically motivated.
Azizi said he was confident the country’s legal system would give him justice.
“For me, this is all politically motivated. I don’t think it will have an impact (on me) because the actions of Bersatu are more focused on efforts to end my party membership,” he said when contacted on Friday (June 21).
On Thursday (June 20), Bersatu confirmed that it submitted notices to the Speaker’s office on the status of its six rogue MPs, whose memberships have been revoked by the party.

Its vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee said in a statement the notice to inform the Speaker of vacancies in the six representatives’ parliamentary seats was submitted in accordance with Article 49A of the Federal Constitution.
The Nenggiri state seat in Kelantan, held by Azizi, was declared vacant on Wednesday (June 19) by assembly Speaker Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.
Azizi had failed to respond to an official letter requiring him to pledge his loyalty to the party by May 31.
Although he won the Nenggiri seat under the PAS banner, Mohd Azizi held a Bersatu membership.
Aside from Mohd Azizi, Bersatu had declared earlier this month that five other MPs and a Selangor assemblyman also ceased being party members after failing to respond to similar letters.

The representatives are Syed Abu Hussin Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang MP), Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanafi (Tanjong Karang) and Selat Klang assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari.
This comes after Bersatu successfully amended its constitution where party members will automatically cease to be members if they go against the party’s decisions, and its elected representatives must subsequently vacate their seats.
The six MPs had, over a period last year, declared their support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim while Rashid said he backed the Selangor government under Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
