WISMA Huazong in Seri Kembangan, Selangor has been brightened up with more than 100 pieces of artwork as the Lions Club of KL Finnamic is organising a charity art exhibition there.
Themed “Art for Great Causes”, the exhibition has works produced by some 20 local and international artists that were on sale.
The exhibition, which starts today and ends on Sunday, is open from 10am to 3pm.
It will be accompanied by a fundraising dinner set for Sunday at 6pm, which aims to raise at least RM100,000 through table sales.
Dinner guests will also be able to bid for some of the artworks and take part in a lucky draw.
The dinner is priced at RM150 per seat or RM1,500 per table.
Organising chairman Ang Chee Yong said funds raised through the event would mainly be for supporting dialysis treatment, eye cataract surgery and children’s cancer treatment.
“We at Lions are serious about our commitment towards supporting those in need.
Oil painting ‘Blue Ocean Paradise’ will be auctioned off at the dinner.
“To show our sincerity, we have supported three patients undergoing cataract surgeries even before the event started.
“I hope more Malaysians can participate in our art exhibition and fundraising dinner,” he said in a press conference at Wisma Huazong.
Lions secretary Stanley Chung, who is in charge of corporate coordination for the event, said 10 booths would be available during the exhibition for businesses to promote their products and services.
Genesis Production art director Cyan Low, one of the participating artists, said the event was a great opportunity for him to give back to society.
“I will be showing 10 pieces. It is always great to help those in need,” he said.
Chen Lei, an artist from China, shared similar sentiments, saying, “The spread of love should not be bounded by nationality, race and language.
“We don’t necessarily need grand platforms as charity starts from our hearts.
“I hope this event can help spread love to every corner in the world.”
According to Lions Club, funds raised would also be used for the organisation’s local and international causes, including humanitarian services, disaster and hunger relief, diabetes awareness, environment and youth development.
