MALAYSIA Day provided an opportunity for residents of Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, to step out of their homes and meet their neighbours.
For Roslinda Razali, 40, taking her family for the Greater Lucky Garden Malaysia Day Walk was a meaningful way to commemorate the day.
“This is especially good for my three kids as we can enjoy the morning breeze and interact with our neighbours.
“I get to show them the importance of community togetherness.
“Instead of being glued to their own gadgets, they get to socialise with people.
“It is also a great opportunity to bond with the neighbours,” she said.
Dressed in Jalur Gemilang colours, Roslinda and her husband Ahmad Shapudin Ismail, 43, and their children, Ahmad Saiful Amiruddin, 15, Ahmad Sabil Asraf, 13, and Amni Soffiyah, 10, were among some 140 Bangsar residents who participated in the activity.

The Malaysia Day Walk was jointly organised by Lucky Garden Residents Association (RA), Taman Pantai RA, Tempines RA, Lucky Garden Rukun Tetangga (RT), Ismaili Civic, and Federal Territories Residents Representative Council (MPPWP) sub zone 2.
Participants were flagged off at Tempinis Park around 6.45am and walked about 3.16km around Bangsar before reaching Kebun-Kebun Bangsar for breakfast.
They also sang the national anthem to commemorate the formation of the country.
Lucky Garden RA chairman Prema Kandasamy said there were more participants this year compared to 2022.
“We held a similar event during National Day last year, which attracted about 80 participants.
“We are glad that more people joined us this time, and it was a great get-together for the residents,” she added.
Prema also hoped that it could become an annual event.
Also present were Community Policing Unit supervisor Cpl Shah Rizal Sulaiman from the Pantai police station, as well as representatives from the respective parent-teacher associations of SK Bukit Bandaraya and SK Bukit Pantai.
