Carmaker contributes to education at local school

DURING the month of Ramadan, national carmaker Proton demonstrated its commitment to education and community welfare with two initiatives.

The company donated a substantial collection of books to SMK Proton City in Tanjong Malim, Perak, and allocated RM10,000 to upgrade the surau at the school’s premises.

The donation, comprising a diverse selection of educational materials ranging from reference books to literature, aligns with Proton’s vision of empowering future generations through knowledge and learning.

The materials were sourced via an inter-company book donation campaign with over 500 books donated by Proton staff.

Through this campaign, the company aimed to inspire students to excel academically and pursue their aspirations.

“At Proton, we are strong supporters of the transforma-tive power of education,” said Proton deputy chief executive officer Roslan Abdullah.

“By providing students with access to a wider range of books, we hope to inspire students and enable their educational journey towards self-discovery and the pursuit of their future vocations,” he added.

By collaborating closely with SMK Proton City, the company sought to support educators in their mission to educate future generations.

SMK Proton City principal Zalina Ahmad expressed her gratitude for Proton’s support, recognising the significant impact it would have on their educational programmes.

“SMK Proton City and Proton have a close relationship and we have about 200 students from families of Proton workers.

“Over the years, Proton, its unions and staff have been supportive of the school and today, we are incredibly grateful for the generous donation of books.

“These resources will enrich our students’ learning experience and contribute to their academic growth,” she said.

Meanwhile, the allocation for the surau would be used to fund its activities and upgrades.
