CelcomDigi-Yinson partnership to elevate e-mobility ecosystem

KUALA LUMPUR: CelcomDigi Bhd has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Yinson Holdings Bhd to accelerate the adoption of electronic mobility across Malaysia.

CelcomDigi chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Idham Nawawi said the collaboration is a significant milestone in the company’s long-standing partnership with Yinson.

“This is the first time in Malaysia that a telecommunication service provider teams up with a global energy infrastructure and technology company to jointly innovate the way we bring electric vehicle (EV) services to consumers,” he said during a press conference after the MoU signing ceremony here today.

The MoU was inked between Idham and Yinson CEO Lim Chern Yuan during the ongoing Electric Vehicles and Mobility (EVM) Asia 2023.

The ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup.

The collaboration enables Yinson to leverage CelcomDigi’s 4G LTE and 5G network to power up the connectivity for the charge point operator for chargEV, rydeEV, drivEV and EVs.

Both companies will also explore solutions to enable consumers to stay connected while having daily access to technology-enhanced services such as eBikes, EVs, EV charging stations and solar infrastructure integration.

Meanwhile, Lim said the collaboration would further support the progressive policies of the Malaysian government to achieve the nation’s net-zero goals as outlined in the New Industrial Master Plan 2030.

“Connectivity and innovative technology are the building blocks of an efficient, clean and equitable transportation system of the future.

“Together, we hope to put clean, integrated transportation solutions into the hands of everyday Malaysians, bringing us collectively closer to achieving the nation’s net-zero goals,” he said.

At market close today, shares of CelcomDigi fell two sen or 0.45 per cent to RM4.46 with 859,900 shares transacted. – BK
