Developer pitches in with RM1mil for Bandar Seri Sendayan community hall

RESIDENTS of Bandar Seri Sendayan near Seremban can now look forward to holding events in their very own community hall.

This is being made possible by a RM1mil contribution from the township’s developer Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd (MCHB) as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

MCHB group chairman Datuk Mohamad Haslah Mohamad Amin said the construction of the hall would benefit some 50,000 people in the township.

“We learnt that the residents approached the Seremban City Council (MBS) for a plot of land to be gazetted as a community hall.

“We then met the Mayor to discuss the matter and asked how we could contribute,” he said at a ceremony on Thursday (Jan 11) to hand over the contribution to MBS.

The group will hand over RM500,000 this year with the remainder to be given out in stages next year.

The hall will be built on a 0.8ha site opposite the Bandar Seri Sendayan health clinic and is scheduled to be completed in 2026.

Mohamad Haslah said the group’s CSR activities in the area also included the construction of a RM12mil mosque which can accommodate up to 1,500 people.

It also provided land and helped finance the construction of a Hindu temple, donated 0.4ha of land for the construction of a gurdwara, and provided a double shoplot to be converted into a church.

Other projects include the construction of a Chinese school, a Tamil school and a national secondary school in the area at a total cost of over RM30mil.

Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun commended MCHB for its contribution and urged more companies to follow suit.

“We are helping to create a venue and a platform for the people to interact, share ideas and cooperate for the common good,” he said.

Aminuddin said he has also asked MBS to come up with another RM1mil to help finance the construction of the RM4mil hall and suggested that it approach factories in the area for help.

Benefactor companies’ names should also be displayed at the hall as a mark of appreciation, he added.
