Leased e-bikes will help forwarders in last-mile deliveries

IT WAS a milestone to be celebrated as a clean energy solutions provider collaborates with an e-commerce platform to promote green mobility adoption.

Clean energy solutions provider Gentari Sdn Bhd (Gentari) through its subsidiary Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd embarked on the long-term electric vehicle (EV) leasing solution for commercial fleet operators as part of its Vehicle-as-a-Service offerings with Lazada.

Gentari leased 25 e-bikes to Lazada for its last mile delivery and the event was launched by Investment, Trade and Industry (Miti) Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz at Xpark Sunway Serene on May 29.

Gentari deputy chief executive officer who is also chief executive officer of Gentari Green Mobility, Shah Yang Razalli, said Gentari’s vision is to make a sustainable shift towards low carbon mobility while making the process easy for all.

He said the event is significant in Gentari becoming the leading clean energy solutions partner in Asia Pacific by 2030.

“Our recognition as Malaysia’s Most Promising Charging Point Operator at last December’s Car of the Year event reaffirms our dedication and forward-thinking approach,” he said.

“Gentari has over 400 Gentari EV charging points, including 120 direct current (DC) fast chargers nationwide. We aim to provide connectivity every 100 kilometres across major regions, from North to South and East to West,” said Shah.

“This makes us the largest operator of fast chargers nationwide.

“With chargers spread across 105 locations, we provide reliable and efficient charging solutions, ensuring seamless integration of EVs into daily operations for businesses and individuals.

“Our Vehicle-as-a-Service offering has delivered more than 3,400 vehicles, helping businesses across Malaysia and the region to decarbonise their fleet operations with fully electric cars, bikes and vans.

“Today, our focus on making commercial fleets more sustainable helps drive the transition across various societal and economic levels, especially within the vital last-mile delivery sector.

“Additionally, our strategy aligns with national goals such as the National Energy Transition Roadmap’s targets and Bursa Malaysia’s ESG reporting mandate that is spurring corporations to adopt green mobility,” he added.

Meanwhile, Tengku Zafrul said, “Gentari and Lazada actively contribute to the nation’s collective net zero national target, through policies such as the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (LCMB), the National Energy Policy (DTN), the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).

“NETR, targets for 50% electrification of both two- and four-wheeled vehicles by 2040, and 80% by 2050.

“At the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, we are incentivising the purchase or leasing of electric two-wheelers, particularly for M40 and B40 households.

“The leasing model that is being launched simplifies and encourages businesses’ transition to adopt electric vehicles, promoting a sustainable model for green fleet ownership and operation,” said Tengku Zafrul.

He said Miti remains supportive to industries that help foster an environment that not only nurtures technological advancements in green mobility, but also ensures that these innovations lead to tangible improvements in the quality of life for all Malaysians.
