ISKANDAR PUTERI: Gleneagles Hospital Johor, with a vision to become a leading education hub for healthcare education among professionals in Malaysia, hosted the inaugural Thoracic Imaging Symposium.
This event brought together hundreds of thoracic consultants and experts to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and information in the field.
Organised in collaboration with the Malaysian Medical Association (Johor branch) and the Malaysia Special Interest Group of Thoracic Radiology, the symposium is dedicated to discussing various diagnoses of pulmonary diseases and enhancing the recognition of radiology patterns. Bringing all participants with a specific interest in thoracic imaging all around Malaysia, Singapore and the United Kingdom in one place to elevate the knowledge sharing session.
Focusing on the thoracic, this symposium held few topic forums that talked about lung cancer, occupational lung disease and interstitial. The symposium also featured hands-on workshops, allowing healthcare professionals to share their expertise. These workshops covered topics such as “CXR for Radiology” and “HRCT Thorax for Radiologists,” providing valuable learning opportunities for attendees.
During the symposium, Gleneagles Hospital Johor chief executive officer Dr Kamal Amzan says, “We’re here to dive deep into the diagnostic intricacies of thoracic diseases and to explore how AI can take our work to the next level.
“By combining our expertise with these powerful tools, we can make diagnoses faster and more accurately, improving care for our patients in ways we’ve only imagined,” adds Dr Kamal, who is also IHH Malaysia (southern and eastern) regional chief executive officer.
Gleneagles Hospital Johor is showcasing its commitment to innovation by introducing advancements in cloud-based image sharing and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in radiological imaging. These technologies aim to benefit the healthcare ecosystem by providing secure image sharing for inter-hospital referrals and delivering more detailed and accurate diagnoses, ultimately enhancing patient care.
Through this public-private collaborative effort with other organisations, Gleneagles Hospital Johor aims to lead the way in Johor’s healthcare landscape by prioritising continuous knowledge sharing on healthcare technology advancements and integrating AI to enhance the efficiency of healthcare professionals’ work.
