KUALA LUMPUR: HSS Engineers Bhd has signed a heads of agreement (HOA) to establish a new entity with ProPick Digital Solutions & Consulting Sdn Bhd, a drone services provider.
In a statement, HSS said its subsidiary HSS Technologies Sdn Bhd would hold 70% in the newly-formed company HSS–ProPick Technologies Sdn Bhd, with ProPick holding the balance 30% equity share.
As part of the HOA, Propick will transfer all its intellectual property (IP) rights to HSS-Propick Technologies, hence paving the way for the speedy implementation of AI-driven drone services across the group’s undertakings and a further extension to various industries in Southeast Asia.
“The new entity HSS-ProPick Technologies will enable HSS to continue our group-wide technological advancement, benefitting all current and future projects in our purview. We are not only embracing but also accelerating the adoption of contemporary techniques to advance the evolution of the construction industry and build an organic growth trajectory in digital construction,” chief operating officer Ir. Sharifah Azlina Raja Kamal Pasmah said in a statement.
“Similar to our adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) since inception, harnessing ProPick’s expertise in providing drone-driven solutions elevates our core competencies in the engineering industry, providing an even greater degree of accuracy and monitoring across our undertakings.
“We are currently using drones in key projects to obtain aerial site intelligence in real time for mapping purposes and progress monitoring including for the Sungai Besi – Ulu Kelang Expressway and Pan Borneo Highway, Sabah.
“We also believe this agreement is in line with the recently announced New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) of having a competitive industry with high economic complexity, high income and skilled workforce with strong domestic linkages,” she said.
The group’s current order book stands at more than RM1.48bil, across rail, road, transportation, water sectors, renewable energy and the digital and technology sectors.
“I am confident of a favourable year for HSS, in light of our notable contract wins as well as our foray into strengthening our fourth vertical of a recurring revenue stream. These are part of our long-term growth strategy to diversify our sector coverage and providing overall business continuity, for the benefit of all our stakeholders,” Sharifah said.
