HERIOT-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) and Zchwantech Sdn Bhd have signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) that solidifies their commitment to supporting Malaysia’s bright and deserving students in computing science.

The event, which was held at the university’s Putrajaya campus, marks a pivotal step towards bolstering the talent pipeline for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields in Malaysia.

The MoA signifies a collaborative effort that aims to empower students and provide them with invaluable opportunities to thrive in both the academic and professional worlds.

In alignment with Zchwantech’s vision to nurture students’ capabilities and expose them to real-world corporate environments, the company will sponsor the tuition fees of selected scholars and offer various internship opportunities.

This comprehensive support will equip students with essential work and life skills, enabling them to learn, network and gain firsthand experience in a professional setting.

The MoA was signed by Zchwantech chief technology officer Chay Weei Jye and HWUM chief executive officer and provost Prof Mushtak Al-Atabi. Senior management teams from both organisations were also present to witness the event.

The MoA aims to empower students and provide them with invaluable opportunities to thrive in both the academic and professional worlds.

“This partnership is in line with HWUM’s purpose-driven education philosophy to provide equitable educational opportunities in Computing Science,” says Prof Mushtak.

“We are dedicated to nurturing a workforce capable of making positive contributions to society and driving economic growth through innovation and education.

“We believe that it is our shared duty to cultivate the human capital of our nation, collaborating closely with the industry to create an environment where our future purpose-driven leaders can fully realise their capabilities.

“By embracing and endorsing forward-thinking and innovative educational practices, we can pave the way for robust economic growth.”

Chay adds that his organisation is delighted to be partnering with HWUM to provide opportunities for students to attain good quality tertiary education that is recognised globally.

“We remain committed to providing tertiary education opportunities for young Malaysians while also meeting the rising demand for human capital, especially in STEM fields,” he says.

The MoA solidifies HWUM’s and Zchwantech’s commitment to supporting Malaysia’s bright and deserving students in computing science.

Established in 2017, Zchwantech is renowned for its expertise in information technology (IT) solutions, custom solution development, cloud-managed services, big data analytics, quality assurance and testing, and human resources system services.

Staying at the forefront of technological advancements and exploring new horizons, the company continues to remain relevant by embracing innovation and adapting to industry trends, taking pride in offering a wide range of services and products.

HWUM, on the other hand, is a leading technological and business university that is globally minded and calibrated to society’s needs.
