Isham questioned by cops after Siti Mastura claims Chin Peng ties info came from BN leaflet

PETALING JAYA: The police have recorded Umno supreme council member Isham Jalil’s statement after Dr Siti Mastura Muhammad claimed she obtained information about DAP’s supposed links with communist leaders from a Barisan Nasional campaign leaflet.

“Bukit Aman called me to ask about Siti Mastura’s case. I’m not really familiar with that issue but the police suddenly rang me up.

“The police said that Siti Mastura claimed that her information was based on a leaflet by BN Communications,” said Isham in a video posted on Facebook on Saturday (Nov 18).

He said while he was the former Umno information chief during GE15, the party and Barisan were two separate entities.

“I don’t think Barisan published this. Whatever it is, let the police investigate,” said Isham.

He also advised Siti Mastura to cooperate with the police.

“To Siti Mastura, maybe you said the wrong thing. I don’t know, but please cooperate with the police and let them investigate.

“My advice is: Please check first before making a statement on anything. That’s all, thank you,” he said.

On Thursday (Nov 16), Bersatu’s Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan said Barisan published a book called “BN Communications Campaign Material” prior to the 15th General Election last year, where it linked DAP members to the late Communist Party of Malaya leader Chin Peng.

Last Tuesday (Nov 14), Siti Mastura was summoned by the police to give her statement over her claims that DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng has family ties with the late Chin Peng.

Her lawyer Ahmad Amzar Ahmad Azlan said that the police asked her about 10 questions.

During a campaign speech recently, Siti Mastura Lim and his wife to other DAP leaders, such as Anthony Loke, Teresa Kok, Nga Kor Ming and Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham.

The Kepala Batas MP also claimed that DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang is a cousin of former Singapore prime minister, the late Lee Kuan Yew.
