PUTRAJAYA: Job seekers are making the most of the myStarJob Fair 2024 job-matching sessions to choose the right career path.

The job-matching sessions, which are being organised

for the second time in the Klang Valley by myStar Job Fair, were fully utilised by both recruiters and job seekers at the IOI Grand Exhibition & Convention Centre.

Among them was Iklil Hawaa Noorddin, 25, who is looking for a career change in the creative field after working in the medical field in the United Kingdom.

“I just completed my Masters in Pharmacology at King’s College and previously worked in the National Health Services (NHS) in the UK and I found it to be quite stressful and now am seeking a role in the sales or creative fields.

“It is my first time participating in a job-matching session and it was fun and interactive.

“The session wasn’t interview-focused and was more like a casual conversation where I got to know about the company, so it was also a great networking opportunity for me, “ she said when met at the IOI Grand Exhibition & Convention Centre on Saturday (May 4).

The job-matching session provides a two-minute session between the recruiters and talents for pre-registered talents.

Student Violyn Kangdinata, 19, from Indonesia, who is seeking for an internship role relevant to her field of study said the session helped her to find out what recruiters are looking for in a candidate.

“Even though I am here looking for internship roles, I was given a quick preview on what kind of questions employers would like to ask,” the business student said.

Feruni Ceramiche Sdn Bhd chief people officer Vikram Sukumaran said they are looking for talents who have the charisma and passion for beauty and design concepts to join their team.

“So far, what we have found from the talents (job seekers) is that they want to connect with their employers and to find purpose in their work and that is what Feruni is all about.

“At the end of the day, the talents want to give back to the community, it is not just about the job but also the purpose and that is what we hope we can offer the candidates,” he said.

Alchemy Global Solutions recruiter Izzath Izzuddin is looking for candidates who are flexible in expanding their knowledge and skill sets.

For the job-matching session, Izzath said that he is looking for candidates who can answer questions quickly which showcases their skills in finding fast solutions.

“The two-minute session is quite short and fast-paced, so for candidates who can keep their composure and are able to come up with answers during the time, it shows they have fast problem-solving skills.

“Right now, we are offering roles to join the marketing department as Alchemy is rapidly expanding and we need to cater to our clients. We also would like to find out what are the things the new generation is expecting from a company,” he said.

myStarJob Fair project manager Nicholas Tan said the job-matching session has been received well by both recruiters and job seekers since it was first launched last year.

“We are happy to match people to their next job faster, we are aiming to be more innovative to make it more efficient for both recruiters and talents,” he said.

Meanwhile, local and international exhibitors such as Fujitec Singapore Corporation Ltd are looking to find new recruits with specialised skills to join their company at the fair which will run until Sunday (May 4) at the IOI Grand Exhibition & Convention Centre, from 11am to 7pm.

Those interested in participating in the job-matching session can walk in at the registration counter for any of the three sessions scheduled at 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 4.30pm while admission is free.
