TAIWANESE actress and TV host Joe Chen Chiao-en said she gained weight after returning home from a week of holiday with her Malaysian husband, reported China Press.
The 44-year-old posted a series of photos of herself indulging in Malaysian delicacies such as Maggi mee goreng, fried chicken and bak kut teh, all of which were taken by her husband Alan Chen.
In one of the photos, Joe was seen enjoying a bowl of ice kacang at a mamak stall but she captioned it saying that she had gained weight.
“I was still thin just a few days ago,” she posted on social media.
Joe and Alan met on a TV dating show. They got married in March last year.
Earlier this year, the pair was reported to have spent their Chinese New Year holiday in Malaysia, with fans sharing photographs of them visiting the malls and tourist spots in Kuala Lumpur and Johor, among others, on social media sites.
> A man in China’s Zhejiang province paid 1.7 million yuan (RM1.1mil) for a Lamborghini sports car only to find out it had been owned by some 15 people in the past, China Press also reported.
According to local reports, the man, whose surname is Zhan, had told the car dealer that he wanted a car “which has not been owned by more than four different people”.
When the Lamborghini arrived, an excited Zhan went to get car insurance and only then discovered its previous ownership.
A frustrated Zhan asked the dealer to give him a 100,000 yuan (RM64,640) discount but the latter refused, saying that they had never made the promise to him.
Zhan’s story sparked a debate online, with many chiding him for not exercising caution in selecting his dream vehicle.
Others said the number did not matter as owners of sports cars, usually wealthy folk, often changed cars every few months after losing interest in them.
> A man in China’s Shanxi province gave up on his wedding after his fiancee asked for an additional 30,000 yuan (RM19,400) on top of the pre-agreed wedding gift of 188,000 yuan (RM121,530), according to China Press.
Instead, Zhu (not his real name) called off the wedding, quit his job, and took 30,000 yuan to travel across 40 cities in China.
His story sparked a debate online, with some users backing him for resisting the demands, while others called him “stingy”.
