KUALA LUMPUR: The third day of the 2024 Eastern Zone Madani Rakyat Programme (PMR) at Dataran Sayangi Kuantan on Sunday (July 7) is the final opportunity for the public, particularly those on the east coast, to enjoy a variety of special offers and interesting activities before the event concludes.
The day’s events began with a half-marathon featuring 5km, 10km, and 21km runs, starting as early as 4am around Kuantan.
Sunday’s highlights include the old helmet exchange programme at the Road Transport Department (JPJ) booth with 750 units remaining. The public also have the chance to receive tree saplings distributed by the Peninsular Malaysia Forestry Department.
For those with traffic summonses, Sunday is also the final chance to get a discount of up to 50% for certain summonses at the police payment counter, which has been operating since the opening day.
The programme, which began on Friday (July 5), has featured a range of activities including an eSports competition, roti canai competition between villages, teh tarik competition, and a patin cooking challenge, organised by the Rural and Regional Development Ministry on the main stage.
The public can also take part in various activities at the booths, such as aero dance and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) demonstrations by the Health Ministry, and a VR (virtual reality) look at “Space Exploration: From Earth to Universe” by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry.
The Eastern Zone Madani Rakyat Programme is a continuation of the One-Year with the Madani Government programme, extended to the state level by zone.
It aims to give the community the opportunity to understand, see, and evaluate new policies and initiatives implemented by the federal government to improve the well-being of the people.
Organised by the Prime Minister’s Office through the Project Acceleration and Coordination Unit (Pacu), the programme also received strategic cooperation from the Rural and Regional Development Ministry and the Pahang government. – BK
