Merdeka celebration lights up mall with vibrant colours

KLANG Parade was awash with vibrant hues as some 150 children gathered to celebrate Merdeka with creativity.

The colouring contest, held as part of the Klang Parade Merdeka celebration, turned the shopping centre into a lively scene of patriotism.

The event saw enthusiastic young participants, divided into two age groups, eagerly splashing colours on their provided artwork, each stroke a testament to their love for the country.

From the moment the contest began at 2pm, children from the age of seven and below as well as those aged eight to 12 took to their tables with determination and excitement.

The young artists focused intently with their imagination running wild as they coloured the Merdeka-themed drawings.

“Seeing these kids dive into their artwork with such enthusiasm and creativity is truly inspiring,” said Klang Parade general manager John Tam.

“It’s heartwarming to witness how they express their national pride through art.

“The joy on their faces and the colourful masterpieces they have created truly capture the spirit of Merdeka,” he said.

In addition to the colouring contest, Klang Parade offered engaging workshops, including a Merdeka wood ornament painting workshop and cookie baking workshop.

These activities further enriched the experience, allowing families to bond over creative projects and delicious treats.

The atmosphere is festive with a large number of children colouring Merdeka-themed visuals.

The contest concluded with the awarding of prizes, including RM300 cash and prizes for the champion, RM200 for the runner-up, RM100 for third place, and RM50 worth of prizes for five consolation winners.

The sense of accomplishment and joy was evident as the winners and participants alike celebrated their efforts.

The Merdeka celebration, a testament to the power of community and creativity, provided a platform for children to showcase their talents while fostering a sense of national pride.
