Five to enjoy future birthdays with whole country

WHEN Pakistani Adil Muhammad moved to Malaysia 11 years ago, he instantly fell in love with the country’s diversity and colourful cultures.

The 32-year-old electrician, who resides in Johor with his wife Anam Adil, 30, now has another reason to love Malaysia – they welcomed the birth of their baby girl on the country’s 66th National Day.

“I feel proud to welcome my first child to the world on Merdeka Day, as I have come to love the country.

“The arrival of our 3.1kg baby girl on this auspicious day has deepened our connection with Malaysia.

“Despite being a foreigner, I feel completely at home here.

“After this, we will celebrate my daughter’s birthday along with all Malaysians every National Day,” said the Skudai resident.

The couple was considering giving the baby a name with a Malaysian element to mark her birthdate.

Adil added that he was glad that Anam had a safe delivery at Columbia Asia Hospital Iskandar Puteri, and thanked the medical staff for ensuring a smooth experience.

The hospital’s general manager Dr Ding Eng Li said Adil and Anam were one of three couples who welcomed their bundles of joy on Aug 31.

“The other two couples were new mother Teo Yi Xuan, 19, from Taman Putri in Kulai, and 31-year-old housewife Nur Maizatul Nasyikin Mohamad, 31, from Bandar Penawar, Kota Tinggi,” she said.

Meanwhile, Damia Fadlyn Yusof, 24, welcomed the birth of her second baby girl on National Day at KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital.

Her husband, civil servant Ahmad Al Mubarak Mohamed, 29, said they did not expect their baby, who weighed 3.53kg, would be born on such a significant day.

“My wife was supposed to give birth in September but her due date was brought forward as advised by doctors because of health factors.

“I hope our baby will grow up healthy and kind, and contribute to the nation in the future,” he added.

An hour before Damia Fadlyn gave birth, first-time mum Fatin Nabihah Abd Rahman, 31, welcomed her 2.78kg baby girl at 9.55am at the same hospital.
