No more delays in Chemor health clinic, to be completed in 2025, says Dr Dzul

IPOH: A new health clinic project in Manjoi is expected to be completed in 2025 after delays.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zulkefly Ahmad said the timeframe for the project’s completion has already been extended twice and there will be no more extensions.

“We have terminated the agreement with the first contractor and have hired a second one.

“The project had several challenges due to the narrow area,” he said during a press conference after visiting the Chemor health clinic on Tuesday (Feb 6).

“It is currently 163 days behind, and the new contractor has assured us they will deliver.

“The project is expected to be completed between the middle, or the third quarter of 2025,” he said, adding that the health clinic will be the first in a five-storey facility.

As for the Chemor health clinic, Dr Zulkefly said the Ministry would look into building a new one to overcome the congestion issue.

He said that nearly 800 patients seek treatment at the health clinic daily.

“We will plan for one, but it will take time,” he said.

He also approved RM250,000 for the health clinic to upgrade its toilet and to get new equipment.

“RM100,000 is for upgrading the toilets, and RM150,000 is for buying equipment,” he added.

Dr Zulkefly said Perak is getting about RM212.4mil in development expenditures this year to upgrade its facilities.

These, he said, included 17 new projects and 13 existing ones.

“The Ministry is committed to ensuring these developments are not late in completion and upgrades, hence providing better services for the people,” he added.

As for the parking woes near the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, Dr Zulkefly said discussions are ongoing to build a multi-level parking building.

“Discussions are ongoing on building a four-storey building with 600 parking bays,” he added.
