No to violence: Cops lift three fingerprints believe to be of suspect

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have lifted three complete fingerprints believed to be that of a suspect from the location where national footballer Faisal Halim was splashed with acid.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said police forensics managed to lift eight fingerprints from the location but only three were complete while the rest were only partial prints.

“The fingerprints were cross referenced with samples kept in our database system but no match has been made.

“This is possible because the individual involved has never been arrested before and does not have a prior record,” he said when contacted on Tuesday (May 21).

He said a photofit of the suspect has already been circulated by the police and urged anyone with information on the suspect to come forward immediately.

“The suspect is believed to be in his 30’s, stands at least 165cm tall, is medium built and has tanned skin,” he said.

It was reported that CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain had himself gone to the scene where Faisal suffered the acid attack on May 9.

Police also denied claims by an online programme that a third person had been arrested and warned everyone not to speculate which could jeopardise investigations, including linking the attacks to a palace.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is still investigating the motive behind the attacks on (Terengganu’s) Akhyar Rashid, (Selangor’s) Faisal Halim and (Johor’s) Safiq Rahim.

Police have also denied allegations by irresponsible parties on social media that the real motive has been ascertained.

“Irresponsible parties, including the ‘Edisi Siasat’ (ES) telegram channel have made claims that we may have solved the case. But those are speculation and lies,” Razarudin was quoted saying.

Those with information on the case should contact Insp Jagachandaran Murugesen from Bukit Aman CID’s special investigation unit at 012-584 8166 or 03-2266 6071.
