PAMB and UTAR ink MoU to give students a kick-start in their career journey

LEADING insurance company, Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad (PAMB) and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

This MoU – a first for PAMB with a local university, aims to help soon-to-be graduates in business and finance studies kick-start their career journey.

The partnership will introduce tailored training programmes prepared by PAMB for UTAR students.

These programmes include interview tips, CV preparation and presentation skills, providing students with a competitive edge in the job market.

Additionally, the partnership will also provide the students internship opportunities at PAMB’s corporate office and its insurance agencies nationwide.

The MoU was signed by PAMB’s chief executive officer, Lim Eng Seong, and UTAR’s president, Prof Datuk Dr Ewe Hong Tat.

Around 40 students from UTAR Kampar Campus were in attendance to witness the event. They also had the opportunity to immerse themselves in PAMB’s Youth Financial Educational programme that promotes financial literacy among young adults.

Lim said, “This year we are celebrating our 100th anniversary in Malaysia, so it is fitting that we look towards the future to inspire the next generation as they enter the workforce.

“This MoU with UTAR signifies our shared commitment to empower students with the tools they need to confidently step into the world and start building their careers,” he added.

Meanwhile, Prof Ewe remarked that the significance of industry-academia collaboration cannot be overstated.

“It is a symbiotic relationship where academia provides expertise, research capabilities, and a talent pool, while industry offers practical insights, challenges, and opportunities for application.

“Together, we form a robust ecosystem that fosters innovation, addresses societal needs, and drives economic progress,” he said.

The partnership is spearheaded by PAMB’s Agency Distribution which manages the recruitment and development of Prudential’s wealth planners and UTAR Faculty of Business and Finance.

Students will be given the opportunity to experience industrial attachment at Prudential’s insurance agencies and learn the tools of the trade from wealth planners or apply their learnings in the corporate office.

This exposure to different working styles will help students find a career path that better aligns with their personalities and purpose.
