PJ mayor promises to look into food court, park maintenance

Petaling Jaya mayor Mohamad Zahri Samingon has pledged to look into maintenance plans for public parks in Taman Jaya and Taman Aman as well as food courts that are rundown, especially in the older parts of the city.

“I will find out their current status from the relevant departments as well as conduct site visits to the affected areas,” he said at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) full board meeting.

In earlier reports, StarMetro had highlighted that many of the stalls at the city’s food courts were shuttered during operation hours.

Feedback from nearby traders and sources from MBPJ revealed that the units were either being used as storage units or had fallen into disrepair.

During the full board, Mohamad Zahri also announced that starting March 1, the city council would only be accepting public complaints through the Public Complaint Management System (Sispaa) which would replace the eAduan MBPJ system.

“As such, area councillors and department heads must spread the word to residents,” he said.

He highlighted that Sispaa was developed by Public Complaints Bureau, which came under the Prime Minister’s Department.

Though MBPJ had developed and launched its own public complaints channel in 2019, Sispaa (which was developed in 2004) has since been upgraded and Selangor government was committed in its goal to streamline all public complaints into a single gateway for better efficiency and management.

Additionally, Mohamad Zahri said MBPJ had set up a task force to come up with a service-level agreement and standard operating procedures for handling complaints.

“The city council will need time to deal with public complaints, like say a month.

“But while waiting, we will not keep silent but ensure that the public receives updates on its latest status,” he said.
