PKNPk signs MoU to establish Perak as tech hub

PETALING JAYA: Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNPk) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China-based Shanghai TusStar Business Incubator Co Ltd (TusStar) with the aim to establish Perak as a preferred technology hub.

In a statement, PKNPk said the MoU signalled its commitment to the digitalisation, technology and renewable energy sectors and their growth.

The MoU would entail both parties collaborating together in efforts that include inviting innovative entrepreneurs with promising business potential to establish and expand their businesses in Perak, as well as the possibility of offering incentives for entrepreneurs in Perak in sectors such as the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, smart agriculture and renewable energy.

“The MoU will also open opportunities for the exchange of ideas and facilities between TusStar and PKNPk, including attachments and mutual visits to enhance programme curriculum development, participation in seminars, conferences and workshops for relevant industries,” PKNPk said.

It added the MoU will allow PKNPk to gain access to TusStar’s extensive expertise as well as their facilities to enable the growth of entrepreneurs and their access to essential resources, mentorship and networking opportunities.

Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad agreed, saying the state was on track to drive the vision of Perak Sejahtera 2030 as it continues to amplify the vast potential it has towards sustainable socio-economic growth.

“PKNPk and TusStar’s collaboration signifies an effective implementation in providing jobs and business opportunities, coupled with talent-enhancement infrastructure and the ease of doing business. To this end, we look forward to welcoming innovative rising entrepreneurs to our shores,” he said.
