Resumption of water supply on schedule as work nears completion

PETALING JAYA: The resumption of the water supply in the Klang Valley is on schedule, with asset maintenance and replacement work at the Sungai Selangor Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant (SSP1 WTP) proceeding smoothly, says Air Selangor.

As at yesterday afternoon, 63.1% of work had been done with full completion expected by 7pm, it said.

The firm expected water supply recovery in the affected areas to reach approximately 20% as at 3pm yesterday, followed by 90% at 3am today, with full recovery expected by noon.

“Supply is expected to be distributed to consumers in stages starting from 3am on Thursday after works are completed and the main water supply distribution system has been stabilised.

“The duration of this water supply disruption and recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the location of the consumer’s premises and the water pressure at the distribution system,” Air Selangor said in a statement. The firm said 105 mobile and 95 static water tankers had been mobilised to hospitals, clinics, dialysis centres and for funeral services.

A list of affected places and their scheduled full recovery times can be found at https://www.airselangor.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Lampiran-A-1.pdf.

Consumers online heaped praise on Air Selangor for its efforts to keep the work on schedule and for providing constant updates on the situation to the public.

“Well done! That’s the fastest maintenance u guys ever did,” wrote Putri Rahman in the comments section of Air Selangor’s Facebook post.

“Very good work from Air Selangor Facebook page… up to date. Now consumers will know how far the progress is. Good job,” Facebook user Farrah Ain Jamludin posted.

However, several also raised their concerns about the various stages of water supply resumption, with Facebook user Michelle Chang lamenting: “Air Selangor really makes people’s lives difficult, 1 day also not enough, some more need 2 to 3 days to fully recover.”
