State polls: Kepala Batas MCA urged to ramp up campaigning

PETALING JAYA: The Kepala Batas MCA division has been told to step up its campaigning for Barisan Nasional candidates as Perikatan Nasional is garnering traction in the area, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said this was the message conveyed to Kepala Batas MCA division leaders during a meeting on Wednesday (Aug 2).

“I urged the division to give their best to campaign for the Barisan candidate to gain more support from voters as Perikatan is gaining momentum in its campaign in the constituency,” said Dr Wee on Facebook on Wednesday.

Also present at the meeting were Penang MCA liaison committee Chairman Datuk Tan Teik Cheng, Tasek Gelugor MCA chairman Yeoh Chin Kah, Permatang Pauh MCA chairman Teh Cheok Lim, Bagan MCA chairman Tan Chuan Hong and Bukit Gelugor MCA chairman Wong Chin Chong.

Dr Wee also said he was glad to be able to share the latest party developments with Kepala Batas MCA members.

“Kepala Batas MCA chairman Goh Poh Chuan shared that former MCA president Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik officiated the opening ceremony of the division 23 years ago.

“I’m pleased to be able to visit the division as party president,” said Dr Wee.

Dr We also said after meeting Kepala Batas MCA members, they adjourned for dinner at a local restaurant in Kepala Batas, where he and Penang MCA chief Datuk Tan Teik Cheng delivered a ceramah.

“I urge constituents in N02 Bertam to give their full support to Barisan candidate Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, who is also the former housing and local government minister.

“My appreciation goes to our comrades from Penang MCA and Kepala Batas division for spending time with us at the gathering,” he said.

There are three state seats within the Kepala Batas parliamentary constituency in Penang – Penaga, Bertam and Pinang Tunggal.

The state polls in Penang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu will take place on Aug 12.
