Suspect in parents’ murder tested positive for three types of drugs, say cops

KUALA LUMPUR: The 42-year-old man who was detained for allegedly murdering his parents at Kampung Sungai Penchala tested positive for three types of drugs.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said the suspect tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine and morphine.

“He has nine drug-related offences on record previously.

“For his recent offence, he was detained on Nov 30 and charged under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 on Dec 1. He was out on bail on Wednesday (Dec 6),” he told a press conference at Brickfields district police headquarters on Sunday (Dec 10).

He said the suspect will be remanded until Dec 16.

“Forensics have combed through the crime scene and recovered weapons believed to have been used in the double murder, including a blade and a wooden stick.

“We are still investigating the motive behind the double murder,” he said.

Comm Allaudeen said the police were alerted after neighbours heard an altercation at the victims’ home.

“Police personnel dispatched to the scene found the married couple, aged 72 and 82, lying in a pool of blood in the living room.

“The victims had multiple stab wounds while the suspect had fled the scene,” he added.

With the help of villagers, police managed to apprehend the suspect at the Penchala Link tunnel some 100m from the house at about 10.30pm on Saturday (Dec 9),” Comm Allaudeen said.

“The 82-year-old male victim was a former municipal council worker while his wife was a housewife,” he said.

The bodies of the victims have been sent to University Malaya Medical Centre for post-mortem, he said.

“We will call up witnesses to assist with the investigation,” he said.
