Taiping park to be Ipoh fashion runway

THE Raintree Walk at the Taiping Lake Gardens will be transformed into a runway for the sixth International Ipoh Fashion Week (IIFW).

IIFW founder Louis Sebastian said a street fashion show would be held at the park on July 20 at 5.30pm.

“The area will be transformed into a runway for over 10 fashion designers, both local and international, to showcase their amazing couture.

“The fashion designers hail from Malaysia, Singapore, China, Indonesia and the Philippines,” he said during a press conference in Ipoh, Perak.

“It will be a stunning visual feast with models doing the catwalk amid the beauty of the historical lake garden,” he said, adding that over 80 models from various countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Nepal, Iran, Morocco and Egypt would be involved.

“The fashion show will be open to the public.”

Sebastian said a “Royal Fashion with a Heart Royal Charity Gala Dinner” would be held on July 19 at Hotel Taiping Perdana to raise funds for the paediatric department at Hospital Seri Manjung and for animals of the Taiping Zoo and Night Safari.

“IIFW demonstrates its ability to bring together fashion enthusiasts, philanthropists and the community at large for a noble cause, leaving a lasting impact on both the fashion industry and the lives of those in need, under the motto of ‘Fashion tourism with a heart’,” he said.

Sebastian said the IIFW had become a central platform for positioning Malaysia as a thriving emerging fashion capital by showcasing its local talents.

“Beyond the glitz and glamour of the runway, IIFW has been instrumental in providing a stepping stone for emerging fashion designers and promoting the rich tapestry of Malaysian fashion.

“The event’s reputation has even extended beyond national borders, to include renowned fashion labels and powerhouses from Singapore, Indonesia, Nepal, China and the Philippines,” he said.

“This international collaboration has not only elevated the event’s stature but has also enabled the fashion faculty of Kolej Komuniti Batu Gajah to gain exposure among a wider audience,” he added.
