Teluk Intan folk rattled by roadside gravestones

THE mysterious appearance of a pair of gravestones in the middle of Teluk Intan town has caused concern among local residents, Utusan Malaysia reported.

The daily said the gravestones were found somewhere along Jalan Bandar and was said to have been left there for more than three months.

Until now, local residents are unsure as to how the gravestones ended up there.

The sighting has caused uneasiness among those passing by the area.

Local resident Musa Pakzam, 78, said he spotted the gravestones when he was about to take out garbage.

“One of the gravestones has a name of a woman in Jawi inscription and her date of passing.

“It is not supposed to be here. I hope the authorities can do something about it,” he said.

However, the report did not mention what was inscribed on the second gravestone.

Syed Mohd Tuan Basin, 47, said his ram, which was about a year old, was believed to be have been attacked by wild animals, possibly a panther on Jan 29.

“I found its remains hanging at the side of the pen… Only its bones were left,” he said.

According to Syed Mohd, the incident had sparked concern among the villagers.

“After the incident, the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) made an inspection but so far no action has been taken,” he added.

Meanwhile, one of the neighbours, Hajar Syed Abdullah, 35, believed the incident was not an act of sabotage.

She claimed to have heard loud barking of dogs from the nearby area, adding that there were also footprints believed to be of the panther near the goat pen.

She also said she had sighted a large black cat.
