UTAR and Samaiden forge new pathways in renewable energy education

PETALING JAYA: Samaiden Group Bhd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), marking a critical step towards integrating academic prowess with industry expertise, particularly in the field of renewable energy.

The renewable energy (RE) specialist said the MOU established a collaborative framework aimed at enhancing educational and professional practices, benefiting students, faculty, and industry professionals alike.

The collaboration entails the exchange of ideas and facilities, including staff attachments and visits to enrich curriculum development and participation in industry-relevant activities. It also includes organising industrial study visits for UTAR students, mutual staff visits for professional development, and enhancing the learning experience.

Samaiden group managing director Chow Pui Hee said its alignment with UTAR was a step towards nurturing a new generation of experts in renewable energy.

“By integrating our industry insights and expertise with UTAR’s academic rigor, we are laying down a foundation for students to excel in renewable energy, a field that is critical to the future of our planet.

“We are excited to be part of this journey, contributing to the education of individuals who will soon lead and innovate in the pursuit of sustainable energy solutions,” she said.

Meanwhile, UTAR president Professor Datuk Dr. Ewe Hong Tat said the MoU with Samaiden was not just a partnership; it’s a bridge connecting academic theory with industry practice, which is vital in the rapidly evolving field of renewable energy.

“By working together, we are creating opportunities for our students and staff to gain hands-on experience and insights into the real-world challenges and advancements in this sector. Our goal is to foster an environment of learning and innovation that goes beyond the classroom, preparing our graduates to be not only knowledgeable but also adaptable and forward-thinking professionals in the field of renewable energy.”
