Berjaya Land eyes more international tourists to Redang Island, banking on new charter service

KUALA LUMPUR: Berjaya Land Bhd’s aviation arm Berjaya Air Sdn Bhd hopes to boost the tourism industry in Redang Island, Terengganu with more international tourists, especially from Singapore, following its newly launched charter services.

Berjaya Land group chief executive officer Syed Ali Shahul Hameed said the service offered by The Taaras Beach & Spa Resort departs from Seletar Airport in Singapore and arrives at Redang Island via Berjaya Air signified a notable achievement for The Taaras in the hospitality industry.

He said this would further strengthen The Taaras’ commitment to providing seamless connectivity and memorable travel experience for travellers.

“Our inaugural flight from Singapore to Redang Island offers an unparalleled level of connectivity and luxury travel experience.

“Experience seamless travel with Berjaya Air’s premium flight service, whisking you directly to your holiday destination with comfort and ease,” he said at the launch of the new chartered service recently.

The Taaras Beach & Spa Resort and Berjaya Air are Berjaya Land’s wholly owned subsidiaries.

Travellers from Singapore can now fly directly from Seletar Airport to Redang Airport, thus reducing the total of travel time to Redang Island to just one hour and 20 minutes.

At present, Singaporean travellers have to fly to Subang Airport from Seletar Airport, before reaching Redang Island, which overall would take three hours.

Berjaya Hotels and Resorts group general manager Pravir Mishra said tourists are offered a special promotional package that includes a three-day and two-night stay at The Taaras Beach & Spa Resort, coupled with return flight ticket, daily buffet breakfast and airport transfer.

The exclusivity of flying with Berjaya Air includes access to the Seletar Business Aviation Centre, a 15 kg check-in luggage allowance per person, express boarding and onboard refreshments with the warmest hospitality, he said.

“We are proud to offer a convenient and efficient new route, providing travellers with seamless connection to the beautiful Redang Island,” he said.

According to Pravir, the resort offered scuba divers the chance to explore over 30 captivating dive sites surrounding Redang Island.

He said that during the turtle nesting season from April to October, tourists have the chance to witness the release of hatchlings into the sea.

To make this experience even more memorable, one can choose to adopt one of these hatchlings, of which the contributions will go towards the research and development of turtle conservation at SEATRU Turtle Lab, housed at the lobby of The Taaras Beach & Spa Resort, a collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. – BK
