Siti Nordiana’s defamation suit against five people settled amicably

KUALA LUMPUR: The defamation suit filed by singer Siti Nordiana Alias (pic), better known as Nana, against five individuals was settled amicably at the High Court here on Tuesday (Dec 5).

Siti Nordiana’s counsel, Abang Azlan Abang Ariffin informed Judge Dr John Lee Kien How @ Mohammad Johan Lee that the plaintiff and the five defendants have agreed to settle the case based on settlement terms.

The defendants are Mohd Razlan Mohamed Yusof, also known as Lan Solo and his wife Nur Sheila Hassim, singer Zuraidah Badron, or Syura, FMC Music public relation officer Sam Musyadzafar Samin and freelance makeup artist Razidah Ahmad Senusi.

All five defendants read their respective apology statements during the proceedings, which the court recorded.

“This apology is made based on our friendship. We hope the disputes and misunderstandings that occurred end here and let it be a bitter history that will not be repeated,” they said.

Siti Nordiana was scheduled to continue her testimony on Tuesday.

In the summons filed in July 2021, Siti Nordiana alleged that on July 20 of the same year, the five defendants posted, disseminated and published defamatory remarks against her through their respective Instagram accounts.

She claimed that the slanderous words described her as a dishonest artiste and not respected by others, that she had an ego, and had used her money and popularity to ensure she was respected.

The season two Gegar Vaganza winner claimed that the live session was uploaded on YouTube although it was deleted by the five defendants and could still be viewed by the public.

Siti Nordiana stated that the number of views for the live broadcast uploaded on the YouTube accounts was expected to increase, and her reputation had been seriously tainted among the public and sponsors who had appointed her as a model and product ambassador.- BK
