JOHOR BARU: Six people, including three siblings and a wheelchair-bound man, have been charged with possession of drugs and firearms.
The six accused, Mohammad Raffi Yahya, 35, who is wheelchair-bound; Mohamad Zaidi Sani, 34; Afiq Zaidi, 23; and the three siblings Siti Nurfatimah Sottor, 32; Muhammad Taufik Sallehudin, 30; and Siti Nurshafina, 24; were charged at the Magistrate’s Court, Sessions Court, and Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) here.
Only Mohammad Raffi was charged at HSA because he had Covid-19 and was receiving tuberculosis treatment.
All six were charged in front of Magistrate Hidayatul Syuhada Shamsudin, Magistrate R. Salini and Sessions Judge VM Mabel Sheela, respectively, here yesterday.
All six of them did not enter a plea, and the drug charges will be heard again in Magistrate’s Court on Nov 8, Dec 21, and Jan 29, 2024, while the firearms charges will be heard in Session Court on Oct 26.
Muhammad Taufik Sallehudin and Mohamad Zaidi are accused of trafficking 59.88g of methamphetamine at a house along Jalan Lading 10 in Taman Puteri Wangsa here on Sept 19 at around 2.15am.
The duo allegedly also had in their possession 14.81g of cannabis at the same place, time and date.
Siti Nurfatimah faces a charge of having in her possession 665g of ketamine at a house along Jalan Gunung in Taman Gunung Emas near Ulu Tiram here at around 9.15am on Sept 19.
She is also accused of trafficking in 81g of Yaba pills and 106g of methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA) at the same time, date and place.
She, together with Siti Nurshafina, Mohammad Raffi, and Afiq, are also charged with trafficking in 27,539g of cannabis at a house along Jalan Bestari 33/2 in Taman Bestari Indah here at around 2am on Sept 19.
All four allegedly trafficked in 1,818g of heroin and 1,944g of methamphetamine at the same place and time.
They are also accused of having 136 live rounds of ammunition at the same place, time and date, which may give rise to a reasonable presumption that they intended to use the ammunition for an unlawful purpose.
The four also allegedly had in their possession a Colt pistol with one magazine, a STI GP6 pistol with one magazine, a silver-coloured revolver, and a Glock pistol with one magazine, which is an offence under Section 7(1) of the Firearms Act (Heavier Penalty) 1971 (Act 37).
Deputy Public Prosecutors Wong Zi Qian and Nuraqiilah Ahmad Rofaie prosecuted the cases, while lawyer Muhammad Abd Kadir represented all six accused.
